Silence is golden, duct tape is silver. That was printed on one of my son’s t-shirts that he wore in high school. They actually put real duct tape on the shirt over the screen printed version. I always got a kick out of his shirts with the crazy sayings on them. Now he is all grown up and left for work today wearing a suit and tie. Where does the time go?

What does this have to do with Garlic Dinner Rolls? Nothing, it just popped into my head, lol

How to make Garlic Dinner Rolls:

Pour hot water, honey, oil, beaten egg, and salt into the pan of a bread machine.

Add the flour. Make a well in the center and add the yeast.

Place pan in the bread machine, close the lid, plug in the machine, and select the “dough” cycle.

When the machine beeps – Do Not Open The Lid – look through the lid and see how much the dough has risen. If it is less than 3/4 of the way up the sides, unplug the machine and allow to continue rising. If you open the lid, it will let all of the heat out. It could take another 30 – 60 minutes.

Remove the dough to a flour covered surface, and divide into 12 equal sized pieces. I find it easier to use a kitchen scale to divide the dough. Allow dough to rest for about 10 minutes.

Roll dough into long ropes, then roll up into spirals. Place on a parchment/silpat covered baking sheet.

Cover with a kitchen towel, and allow to rise a second time until almost doubled, 30 – 45 minutes in a warm, draft-free spot. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

In a small bowl, melt the butter in the microwave. Add the garlic powder and salt.

Remove the towel, and brush the tops of the rolls with the garlic butter mixture using a pastry brush. Place in a preheated oven and bake for 12 – 15 minutes until tops are golden brown.

Remove from oven and brush tops again with the garlic butter.

Notes:

  • You can also make breadsticks. Place rope onto baking sheet without rolling into a spiral.
  • Or you can also make simple dinner rolls by shaping the dough pieces into round balls and baking in a 9 x 13 pan.
  • Yes, you can also make these garlic dinner rolls without a bread machine, though I have never done it myself.

Holy Mother of all Things Delicious, these rolls are awesome! They are soft, and light, and garlicky, and oh my… I might just eat the whole batch good.

I made these Dinner Rolls for Thanksgiving (with plain butter on top) and fell in love. Cassi is going to freak out when she comes home and tries these babies! When I tried the dinner rolls at Napoli’s Restaurant, I thought of these rolls and decided to give it a try. They are thicker than Napoli’s, but everything else is dead on perfect!

I dare you to eat just one! 😉

Enjoy!!
