Orange Boozy Brownies & better than sex bars

Yes, you read that correctly….better than sex bars!  What does that have to do with Orange Boozy Brownies?  Okay here’s the story…..

Back when I was 11 years old, a friend of mine gave me a recipe for “Better than Sex Bars”.  Being 11 years old, we thought that was hysterical!  So at the tender age of 11, I started making what we have always called “BTS Bars”.

They are a brownie base, with a rum walnut filling and topped off with a chocolate ganache type topping.  A few years ago I decided to start playing around with the flavors and see what else I could create.  My dear friend Michelle commented on the Peanut Butter Cup Boozy Brownies that I posted a few weeks ago.  She thought they sounded very similar to those BTS Bars.  Well they are the same, but with a few tweaks!

Many of you may not realize that I actually sell Cocktail Cakes here in Cedar Rapids.  I have for almost 8 years now, but selling from home is not easy.  Only the people that work at the ex’s place of employment order them anymore.  I was never able to set up at the farmer’s market, and retail space is cost prohibitive!  So I set up a website thinking everyone would rush to order.  Ya, that never happened!  While setting up the website, I was trying to come up with cute names.  My daughter was actually the one to come up with Boozy Brownies, and everyone else seems to get a kick out of it…so the name stuck!

I posted the link to my website during an insane conversation on facebook with non other than Cindy and Claire!  We were laughing so hard and they made me promise to create an Orange Boozy Brownie.  So here it is ladies…..Orange Boozy Brownies 🙂  I thought it was the perfect way to celebrate our first link party together!

These brownies look are just gorgeous, Lisa! I love all the layers. I’ve never thought to add orange OR booze to brownies, but it sure sounds like a great idea. I had to laugh about the BTS bars…too funny!

That brownie looks so perfect in the photo! Hey, I just bought vanilla ice cream and what goes great with ice cream…. yep, brownies. Of course, I bought a brownie mix that’s in the closet. I’m so lazy during the summer, but these look fantastic, right along with the peanut butter cup boozy brownie.
