Hi, my name is Lisa and I am obsessed with crazy bar glasses! I came across these really cute Tiki Glasses and I just couldn’t resist ordering them. I had no idea what cocktail I would create, I just knew that I had to have them. Then I sat here staring at them the other day, and finally realized that they would be perfect for a Mai Tai Cocktail.

Aren’t they cute? 🙂 They are also giant…20 ounces each!! Please remember…drink responsibly…and stay home after having one of these babies!! lol

What ingredients are in a Mai Tai Cocktail?

The original cocktail calls for Orgeat Syrup {a combination of orange and almond liqueurs} but of course I can never find it in local stores. I opted to use Cointreau {orange liqueur} and Amaretto instead. Have I mentioned yet that this cocktail is rather strong??

How to Make a Mai Tai

Grab all of your ingredients and let’s get started. Place 1 cup of ice in a cocktail shaker. Pour in the rum and liqueurs.

  • Feel free to play around with the amount of pineapple and orange juice that you add. If you feel it is too strong, just add more juice. If you add less rum, it will not taste the same…it’s better to up the amount of juice.
  • If you would like your very own Tiki Dude glasses you can find them here and no, they are not called tiki dude glasses on Amazon.

Alex ordered a Mai Tail Cocktail at Red Robin on his 21st birthday. I think the bar tender was being “generous” or maybe just mean, but it was soooooo strong that Alex couldn’t even take a sip. I had to drink it down low enough to add more orange juice….and then some more to add more juice. He finally enjoyed his drink, and I wanted to go to sleep….for a week!

Enjoy!!
