2tablespoonspowdered sugar
.5teaspoonpure vanilla extract
.5cupheavy creamheated
.5cupcocoa powder
Instructions
Combine the chocolate, wine, vanilla and powdered sugar together in a bowl. Set aside.
Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it starts to bubble and simmer, stirring often to keep it from scorching.
Pour the hot cream over the chocolate mixture in the bowl. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is thoroughly combined.
Pour the chocolate mixture into a small baking dish (mine is 1-quart). Place in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours.
When mixture is chilled, use a mini cookie scoop to form bite-sized balls. Roll in your hands to form round balls, then roll in cocoa powder to thoroughly coat.
Place the truffles on a parchment lined baking sheet and place in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Serve with a glass of red wine, or package them up in a pretty box and give them as a gift with a bottle of red wine. It will be a gift that the recipient will never forget!
Notes
Cabernet Sauvignon has a deeper, more intense flavor than a pinot noir or merlot.
Dark chocolate is perfect with red wine, but milk chocolate will work as well.
For dairy-free truffles, substitute canned coconut milk (shake before opening) and dairy-free chocolate.
For keto truffles: substitute sugar-free chocolate chips and Swerve powdered.
