Ingredients
1.25
cup
brown sugar
lightly packed
0.5
cup
honey
1
teaspoon
garlic powder
1
teaspoon
onion powder
1
tablespoon
Worcestershire sauce
12
ounces
good quality whiskey
Instructions
Place all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir to combine.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes until glaze thickens and is reduced.
Use immediately, or store in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
Notes
This sauce will thicken as it cools.
It is sweet and sticky, with some dark notes from the Worcestershire Sauce.
I do not like chunky sauces, but feel free to use sautéed onions and garlic in place of the powdered versions that I used.
The alcohol will not completely cook out of the glaze. The alcohol flavor is not overpowering.
There is no substitution for the whiskey!
