Celebrate the flavors of fall with a sweet, sour, and boozy Apple Cider Moscow Mule. This twist on the traditional cocktail includes apple cider, lime juice, vodka, ginger beer, and a cinnamon stick for the perfect drink to sip by the fire.
Why I made this recipe…
I spent my weekend battling against a restaurant in South Africa that is stealing images to promote their restaurant! A big Thank You to the follower that emailed me the link. I sent them a private message pointing out that all images on my blog {and any blog for that matter} are copyright protected.
Most of the time it is an oversight, they didn’t know any better and they apologize and that’s the end of it. But not this guy! This was his response “Dear Lisa, we don’t steal images that are available for promotional use on the internet. If you don’t want your pictures used…. simply don’t post them.” What??
I posted this dram on my personal Facebook page and within minutes all of my blogging friends commented on their site letting them know all about copyright laws. The image was removed, we were all blocked from the site, he posted a few more obnoxious responses, and all is right with the world again!! LOL
This left me with no desire to cook, so I made Apple Cider Mule cocktails instead. I think these may be my favorite Mule yet! The flavor of the apple cider does not get overpowered by the ginger beer, and the vodka makes it a cocktail. No mocktails this weekend!!
How to make an Apple Cider Mule
Start by pouring the chilled apple cider and vodka into a copper mug. Top with the ginger beer.
Fill mug with ice.
Squeeze a lime wedge into the drink and stir to combine. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and apple slice, and serve.
You get all of the flavors of fall, and a bit of a kick from the vodka. What more could you ask for? Wait, don’t answer that.

- I use these Solid Copper Hammered Mugs for all of my Mules, they are awesome!
- These Sip Straws are perfect for cocktails, and stirring coffee.
- You can adjust the flavor of your Apple Cider Mule a bit by using flavored vodka…cinnamon for hot and spicy, caramel to add some sweetness. Spiced Rum might even be fun!
- I cut a small lime into quarters and used one of the quarters in each drink.
- The apple slices are just thinly sliced, from top to bottom with a slit cut in the center. The apple will break when you push it over the side of the mug, but the cinnamon stick hides it. You could also float the apple slice on top of your cocktail.
