Easy air fryer tortilla pizza is a quick and simple meal that combines the crispy texture of an air-fried tortilla with the flavors of a traditional pizza. It starts with a tortilla as the base, which gets perfectly crispy in the air fryer.
You can then add your favorite toppings—like pizza sauce, cheese, pepperoni, veggies, or whatever you like—and air fry it until the cheese is bubbly and the edges of the tortilla are golden brown.
The result is a thin, crispy crust with all the deliciousness of a classic pizza but in a much lighter and faster way.
Air fryer tortilla pepperoni pizza is perfect for busy days when your pizza cravings hit, but don’t have the time to knead pizza dough and wait for it to rise.

- Flour Tortillas: These are the most common choice, offering a mild flavor and a crisp texture when air-fried. I used a Mission low-carb tortilla.
- Whole Wheat Tortillas or Gluten-Free Alternatives: If you’re looking for something healthier or need to avoid gluten, their are options that are excellent for maintaining that desirable crispness.
- Olive Oil: Lightly brush around the edges to keep them from drying out.
- Tomato Sauce: Classic pizza sauce pairs well with any topping.
- Pepperoni: Everyone’s favorite pizza topping. You can use regular or mini slices.
- Mozzarella: Classic choice known for its gooey texture and mild taste.
- Italian Seasoning: Enhances the overall flavor of your pizza.
- Parmesan Cheese: The perfect way to finish off your tasty creation.
I used an Instant Pot Vortex Plus Air Fryer to create this easy tortilla pizza. Your results may be different if using a different brand, just make sure to keep and eye on your pizza as it is cooking.

How to make Air Fryer Tortilla Pizza with Pepperoni
Creating a crispy tortilla pizza is simple and fun. Start by gathering your ingredients so your have them all ready to go.
To avoid trying to move an assembled tortilla pizza and fit it into the air fryer basket, we are going to assemble it in the basket.
Place an 8-inch flour tortilla in the bottom of the air fryer basket. Use a small pastry brush to lightly coat a small border around the edge of the tortilla with oil.
Place the pizza sauce in the center of the tortilla and spread it towards the outside without going all the way to the edge of the tortilla.
Place the pepperoni slices on top of the pizza sauce.
Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese, then sprinkle Italian seasoning on top of the cheese.
Secure the basket in the air fryer. Set the air fryer to 3 minutes at 400°F (200°C).
Check to see if your pizza is golden brown and bubbly at 2:30 minutes. If not, continue cooking for an additional 30 seconds.
Use a jumbo turner to remove the pizza and place on a cutting board. Slice the pizza into quarters or smaller wedges for easy handling.
Serve with a fresh arugula salad to round out your meal. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes for added flavor and zing.
Expert Tips
- The air fryer works best with a thin, even layer of toppings that will cook evenly. Too many toppings, and you’re likely to end up with a soggy pizza.
- It’s easy to get carried away with sauce, but too much can make the tortilla soggy. Just use a small amount to cover the surface lightly. A tablespoon is usually enough.
- The pepperoni slices are placed under the cheese to keep them from flying around your air fryer.
- Try adding your favorite cheeses or herbs to personalize your pizza.
Gluten-free alternatives
For those avoiding gluten, you don’t need to miss out on pizza night. Here are some great options for you to try:
- Gluten-Free Tortillas: Brands like Siete make almond flour tortillas that are perfect for air frying.
- Cauliflower Tortillas: These hold up well in the air fryer and add a veggie serving to your meal.
- Corn Tortillas: Naturally gluten-free, they add a unique flavor and a bit more crunch.
Can I use different ingredients?
Absolutely! One of the best things about making homemade pizzas is their flexibility. If you’re out of traditional pizza sauce, you can use alternatives like pesto, marinara sauce, or even bbq sauce for a unique twist.
Don’t have mozzarella? Try cheddar, provolone or a mixed blend of cheeses.
Vegetables (green bell peppers, diced red onions, or mushrooms), meats (ground beef or Italian sausage), or even a sprinkle of herbs can be added based on what you have in your fridge. Pre-cook toppings like vegetables or ground meats that require longer cooking times to ensure they are fully cooked on the pizza. The sky’s the limit, so feel free to get creative with toppings.
What if I don’t have an air fryer?
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can make tortilla pizzas in a conventional oven. Bake on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper at 400°F (200°C) for about 3-4 minutes, or until the tortilla is crispy and the cheese is melted.
How do I store leftover tortilla pizza?
If you find yourself with leftover pizza (though it’s hard to imagine!). Let the pizza cool down to room temperature before placing it in an airtight container. Refrigerate it for up to 3 days. When you’re ready to enjoy it again, reheat the slices in the air fryer for a few minutes to bring back the crunch.
