I have been talking a lot lately about healthier meal choices, and seafood is one protein that the doctors and I can agree on! Salmon is usually my go to seafood of choice, but this time I decided to change things up. This time we are having a Wild Alaskan Crab Legs feast complete with Garlic Herb Butter …..
Creamy Cilantro Lime Dressing, and Basil Pesto Mayo dipping sauces. We all know how much kids love to dip things, right? Well I have come up with several different options that are sure to make everyone in the family happy. Not only is this meal delicious, but it is also really simple to prepare.
How to make Wild Alaskan Crab Legs:
Garlic Herb Butter:
Heat the butter, garlic, dill, lemon juice, and pepper in a small saucepan until the butter is melted…..
Set the butter aside. I used a combination of defrosted Wild Alaskan King and Snow Crab Legs,{Dungeness Crab would be excellent as well}. Place them on a baking sheet {or two} and bake in a preheated 425 degree oven…..
for 4 to 6 minutes. They are already cooked, so we just need to heat them.
I placed a plastic garbage bag on top of a fun red checkered tablecloth…..
Then covered the table with newspaper…..
When the crab legs are heated, just dump them out onto the newspaper…..
You will also want to include a bucket {or bowl} for the shells, some lemon wedges, nutcrackers to break the shells, napkins, and seafood forks…..
I tried to get actual crab leg crackers, but they were sold out. My good old nutcracker {the one that I grew up with} worked perfectly. You will need to help the littlest in the family with the hard shells, but my kids have been able to crack them by themselves since they were about 5 years old. 😉
What do you serve with Crab Legs?
Serve your Wild Alaskan Crab Legs with your choice of dipping sauce and Baked Potato Wedges…..
Personally, my favorite dipping sauce is the Garlic Herb Butter…..
but the Creamy Cilantro Lime Sauce…..
and the Basil Pesto Mayo are delicious as well…..
To make the Basil Pesto Mayo, simply mix 1/4 cup of Basil Pesto with 1 cup of mayonnaise. BAM…..done!
How many crab legs do you need?
When purchasing Alaska crab legs, it is recommended that you purchase 1 to 2 pounds per person. If you have big eaters, or only serving crab, you will want to purchase extra….just to be safe. 😉

Yum! I have never made crab legs at home – it’s something I order out! I think I need to change that soon! 🙂
You definitely need to change that soon, Jamie!! They are so simple to make, your kids could even help. 🙂
I love Alaskan Wild Seafood — I buy the salmon the most, and shrimp and halibut next! I rarely buy crab legs and you’ve made it look really easy to prepare — plus the fixins like those potatoes and garlic herb butter sound like the perfect way to enjoy them!
Thank you Marcie!! They are a special treat, and it’s so much fun to watch the kids try to figure out how to get the crab meat out, lol
Wow – these look amazing – I love crab!! but not crabby people 🙂
Hahaha, thanks Deb. I don’t like crabby people either!!
Oh my….we LOVE crab legs and made them for the first time on NYE. Of course, we had no idea what we were doing…..but you can’t go wrong with crab! Maybe next time I’ll have to follow this delicious looking recipe!!!
I could drink the sauce, it sounds so good! What a great idea for a summer feast!
Lisa, this looks like so much DELICIOUS fun! I love the facts you included about Alaskan seafood- I didn’t know those things, either. Stuff like that matters to me. 🙂 Thank you for sharing at Treasure Box Tuesday!
Yum! We just had a crab fest ourselves. There is something really fun about getting messy and dipping everything in melted butter! Putting dill and garlic in the butter is genius!
