I absolutely L-O-V-E creating new pizza flavors! I wanted a really easy to prepare pizza that you could throw together any night of the week, that wasn’t too complicated. This is “that” pizza!
We are not cooking the shrimp in a pan ahead of time, it goes on raw and cooks in the oven. There is no sauce, the lemon zest, garlic, and cheeses do the job beautifully!
📋 What you will need
- prepared pizza dough – it is best to make your dough a day or two in advance so the dough has time to relax. I used my favorite Italian Pizza Dough for this recipe.
- olive oil
- raw shrimp that has been peeled and deveined. Look for wild-caught and defrost the day before if necessary.
- lots of fresh cloves of garlic
- lemon zest
- grated gruyere, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses
- chopped Italian parsley and crushed red pepper flakes to finish off your pizza before serving

🧑🏻🍳 How to make garlic shrimp pizza
Place a pizza stone on the lowest oven rack and heat the oven to 500 degrees for one hour. Allow the pizza dough to rest covered on the counter while the oven is heating.
Pat and stretch the pizza dough to form a circle. Place on a cornmeal dusted pizza peel and prick all over with a fork. Brush the top with olive oil.
Sprinkle the gruyere and mozzarella cheese over the top, leaving a half inch border around the edges. Drizzle with additional olive oil. Slide the pizza onto the heated baking stone and bake for six minutes.
Remove the pizza from the oven. Lay the shrimp on top of the cheese, then sprinkle the lemon zest, minced garlic, and half a cup of Parmesan cheese over the shrimp.
Return the pizza to the oven and bake until the shrimp is cooked, and the crust is golden brown and puffy, about 4 minutes.
Place the pizza on a cutting board and lightly brush the crust with olive oil. Sprinkle the remaining quarter cup of Parmesan and chopped parsley. Slice and serve immediately with additional grated Parmesan and crushed red pepper flakes.
So much flavor!! Serve with a nice Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay for a special touch.
