Think of this drink as a south of the border version of Irish Coffee, which is also delicious by the way.

How to make a Mexican Coffee Cocktail

I am old old-school, so I always grind my coffee beans right before I am ready to brew my coffee.

While your coffee is brewing, measure 1-ounce of coffee liqueur and 0.5-ounce of tequila.

A shot glass with 1.5 ounces of Kahlua with the bottle in the background.

and pour into a coffee mug. Add the fresh, hot coffee.

Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon (if desired) and serve immediately.

  1. Yes please, I would like one of those cocktails! I didn’t know that coffee and tequila actually play pretty well together ’til recently, and now I’m excited about the combo.

That coffee maker looks pretty slick, too. Some day I will get a coffee maker so I can stop drinking crappy instant. 😛

  2. Mmmmm! The first thing I saw tonight was your Mexican Coffee Cocktail! Sure wish I had one right now! Thank you for the giveaway, and for sharing both at Treasure Box Tuesday!! Pinning!

  3. This recipe looks delicious and, I must say, I am completely intrigued by this coffeemaker. I love that the coffee can be brewed two ways, and, as much as I like the idea of the K-cups, I have yet to find one that yields strong enough coffee to suit my taste. Perhaps I’ll win and will be able to find out on my own. Thanks for the giveaway!
