Pizza topped with white pizza sauce, strips of medium-rare steak, Gorgonzola butter, and crispy onion rings.

Many, many years ago I left my comfort zone and tried a ribeye steak that was topped with gorgonzola butter and crispy onion rings. To be honest, I am not a fan of blue cheese. I like a simple steak, with a baked potato and some barbecue sauce on the side…but that night I went out on a limb and gave it a try. Surprise, surprise it was pretty amazing and stuck with me all of these years!!

This combination right here is the what I based my Steakhouse Pizza on…and it is amazing!!

I’m not going to lie, it is a bit time consuming to create each of the components, but it is well worth it!

How to make Steakhouse Pizza:

For less stress and chaos in your kitchen it really is best to make as many components of this pizza ahead of time as possible. Then when ready to serve, grill your steak, fry your onion rings and bake your pizza.

  • Start by making the Gorgonzola Butter ahead of time and let it chill in the refrigerator (or freezer) until you are ready to make your pizza.
  • Next, make your White Pizza Sauce. It can be made ahead of time as well since it will reheat while the pizza is cooking.
  • For best results and less prep the day you are making this pizza, make your Homemade Pizza Dough, or Italian Pizza Dough in advance and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
  • Make your Crispy Onion Rings, since they have to soak for an hour.
  • While the onion rings are soaking;
  • Brush steak with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place in a skillet and cook for 4 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Set aside.
  • Fry the crispy onion rings and drain on paper towels. If you have two ovens, keep warm at 300 degrees.

Place a baking stone {if using} in the oven and preheat the oven to 500 degrees. We are only using half of the pizza dough for this recipe, but you could easily make two if you want to!

Press or roll out the dough on a flour covered work surface, then place on a sheet of parchment paper. Top with the White Pizza Sauce.

and bake until the edges are golden and the sauce is heated. I am still getting used to this oven and apparently it cooks unevenly. You do not want your sauce to be browned, just the crust, LOL

Remove from the oven and arrange the thinly sliced steak over the sauce and drizzle with the melted Gorgonzola Butter.

If you are making your pizza dairy-free, skip the gorgonzola butter. {garlic infused olive oil would be a good substitute}

Top your pizza with the Crispy Onion Rings, slice and serve.

Because I created ALL of the components at the same time {because I am a crazy person and that’s how I roll}, I actually over-proofed my dough…a lot…by like an extra 2 hours…so that is why it looks so flat.

This is also why I gave you the breakdown up above, so you do not run into the same problems. The onion rings were cold by the time I got done cooking the steak, but it didn’t matter, this Steakhouse Pizza was still A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
