The holidays are upon us, and that means we are entering the season of holiday parties. Everyone will make some variation of Party Mix. They will set out bowls of chips and dip, and bake cookies…lots and lots of cookies! That’s all fine and dandy, but I like to show up with something unusual. Something unexpected. So when Four Roses Bourbon contacted me and asked if I would be interested in creating a recipe for the upcoming holiday season…..
Are you kidding? I jumped up and down and said YES!! You know me and my boozy treats! Then my blogger happy mail arrived…..
and the creative juices started flowing. I was bound and determined to make White Chocolate Snickerdoodle Truffles. I made THREE different batches, with 2 different types of white chocolate, and not one of them worked! 🙁 Well, I did finally end up with a delicious White Chocolate Truffle Dip …..
Back to the drawing board and finally created these Chocolate Bourbon Truffles rolled in cinnamon sugar…or chopped nuts…or cocoa powder! You know me and choices. 😉
YUMMY!! Not only are they perfect for holiday parties, but they would also make an excellent Valentine’s Day gift!
How to make Chocolate Bourbon Truffles
Start by placing the chocolate and butter in a large bowl {I used Ghirardelli bittersweet chocolate chips}. Heat on HIGH for 30 seconds
Stir and heat for an additional 30 seconds, stir and set aside.
Heat the heavy cream and corn syrup in a small saucepan over LOW heat until it begins to simmer.
Pour the cream over the melted chocolate and let sit for 1 to 2 minutes to completely melt the chocolate.
Stir to combine and add the Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon and Simply Organic Madagascar pure vanilla extract.
Gently stir until thoroughly combined. Pour into an 8 x 8 baking pan, or 8-inch round baking dish if your square pan is filled with white chocolate truffle dip ;).
Chill in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours until firm.
Using a small scoop create your truffles.
Roll between your palms to make round balls and place on a parchment paper/silpat lined baking sheet. Sorry, no pictures of this step. There is already enough food lodged in the crevices of my camera, lol.
Mix sugar and Frontier Simply Organic cinnamon together in a small bowl…..
Roll chilled truffles in the cinnamon sugar.
or chopped pecans.
or cocoa powder {aka lumps of coal}.
Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator to chill until truffles are firm, about 1 hour. Store the Chocolate Bourbon Truffles in the refrigerator until ready to serve. They will start to soften as they sit at room temperature. Simply place them back in the refrigerator if they soften too much.
A big thank you to Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon (100 proof) and Simply Organic Spices for the wonderful products that they provided for me to create these recipes.
“Four Roses Bourbon, is a premium Single Barrel Bourbon with a taste that begs to be savored again and again. Its taste is complex, full bodied and surprisingly smooth with a delicate long finish that is unbelievably mellow. Contains hints of ripe plum and cherry tastes with fruity, spicy aromas including maple syrup and cocoa”. Drink straight up or on the rocks….or mixed into truffles…or barbecue sauce. 😉 Suggested Retail Price: $35.99- $39.99 for a 750ml bottle
Simply Organic Spices are part of the Frontier Co-Op family and are created right here in Iowa… Norway, Iowa to be exact. In an industry where “organic” labels are often just an extension of larger, non-organic enterprise, Simply Organic® offers healthy, wholesome, organic products you can trust. I have been using them for years now, and love them!!

Thank you Cathy. You can’t go wrong with chocolate, right? 😉
Yum!
These are on my MUST MAKE list! Yum!
These looks amazing. I made some truffles and chocolate covered cherries earlier this year. I need to get candy making again. Going to try your recipe. Pinned for later.
You had me drooling at the first picture–these look so yummy and easy to make–yay! Thanks for sharing!
Oh my, I’m a truffle fan, and these look delicious!
I made these they are amazing. By themselves they tend to be a little too bitter so I voted them with sugar and cocoa and it balanced out the bitterness. Inused Jim Beam bourbon. They are little strong for someone that doesn’t appreciate bourbom. But on point for others the appreciate a glass of bourbon. I made them for Super Bowl weekend! I hope the party enjoys them as much as I enjoyed sampling! My tip: finish the bottle you take 1/4 cup from!
I tried 4 different recipes for chocolate truffles just now. My husband agrees that this won, hands down! I didn’t have the 4 roses bourbon on hand but my husband told me to try his Disaronno that he had on hand and let me tell you, I am singing, “ It’s beginning to look allot like Christmas” at the top of my lungs right now, which means that I am super psyched to have my family try these on Christmas Day….if they make it to Christmas Day lol.
That is awesome Stephanie, I am so glad you like them!!
