The temperatures have been over 110 degrees for the past 30 days and you’re craving cookies….what are you going to do? You are going to get very creative! By now the title of this post has pretty much given it away, we’re talking about Grilled Chocolate Chip Cookies. Did you know that you can grill cookies? It is slightly trickier to get your cookies to bake evenly, but so worth it…..
especially when you are getting desperate and a bit stir crazy hiding out indoors all summer long!!
You may remember my Chocolate Chip Waffled Cookies from a few weeks ago. Those are a fun twist on Chocolate Chip Cookies, but these Grilled Chocolate Chip Cookies are closer to the real deal.
How to make Grilled Chocolate Chip Cookies:
I made my favorite “World Famous Chocolate Chip Cookie” dough…..
Preheat grill to 375 degrees, using only one burner. We need indirect heat.
Scoop dough using a small cookie scoop {about 1 Tablespoon} and place on a small baking sheet {1/4 sheet pan}.
Place cookie pan over indirect heat and close the lid. Cook for 9 to 10 minutes, until golden brown and set.
Remove from grill, allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes. Move to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
Continue “grilling” additional cookies, or cover cookie dough and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Notes:
- The grill picture is deceiving, they were actually baked on the far right side away from the flame.
- I used a Small Cookie Scoop {affiliate link} because the bottoms tend to brown faster on the grill than in the oven.
- I used this 1/4 sheet baking pan 9 1/2″ x 13″ {affiliate link}. If you have a larger grill you can uses a regular sized baking pan.
- I tried using aluminum foil the first time and the bottoms turned black. You need a baking sheet to insulate and distribute the heat evenly.

Who knew that you could use a grill like an oven? Hopefully Mother Nature will turn down the heat soon, not that I haven’t had fun getting creative while not using the oven for the past 3 months, but fall is almost here and that means it’s time for baking apple and pumpkin recipes…and soup, I am so ready for soup! 🙂
Enjoy!!
