Homemade French Dressing is quite versatile and is just as delicious on a salad as it is on a sandwich! It is sweet and tangy, on the thick side and super easy to make. Sounds pretty perfect, right? I originally made it to go with my Chef’s Salad, but ended up trying it out on several different recipes this past week!

What is French Dressing?

French Dressing was originally created in the 1950’s and referred to any oil-and-vinegar-based salad dressing. Homemade French Dressing is now made by blending olive oil, vinegar, tomato paste or ketchup, brown sugar, paprika and salt together to create a creamy dressing.

How do you sweeten Homemade French Dressing?

Regular diets use light brown or granulated sugar.

Keto diets use Swerve Brown Sweetener, or sweetener of your choice. {affiliate link}

Paleo diets use honey. I would start with 2 – 3 Tablespoons and adjust as needed.

You can always start with less and add more sweetner as needed.

What if I don’t have a blender?

Place all of the ingredients into a glass mason jar, cover with the lid and shake until well blended.
