There is a really big football game coming up this week, are you ready? After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, time seems to enter some kind of time warp once January hits and events just seem to sneak up on you. Or is that just me? To get us all in the mood I have created this amazing Touchdown Sundae Ice Cream Pie…..

And show you how to throw together a kick butt Game Day Party that will impress your friends and family. Prepare to Party!!
How to throw an awesome game day party:
First things first, the guest list. Decide who you want to party with and invite them…pronto!!
Second, the menu. To keep things nice and simple, we are going to serve DiGiorno® Cheese Stuffed Crust Five Cheese and Cheese Stuffed Crust Pepperoni Pizzas. They are made with real mozzarella cheese and vine-ripened tomatoes from California {like me}. They are baked up fresh in your oven just before your guests start to arrive…..
We will also be serving the ever popular tortilla chips with pico de gallo, and guacamole.
Now get all of your game day items out of the dungeon basement and decide what else you will need. Party plates, napkins, cups, plastic utensils, serving bowls, etc. are all good choices to keep clean up to a minimum. 😉
Third is our shopping list. Once we have a rough estimate of how many people will coming to our soiree, it’s time to start forming the final plan and head out to purchase what we need.
Fourth is shopping. To keep costs down, we are going to purchase our party foods at Walmart. DIGIORNO® Cheese Stuffed Crust Pizzas are in the freezer section. Now head over to the next aisle to find Edy’s® Limited Edition Touchdown Sundae Ice Cream {we call it Dryer’s on the West coast} for our amazing dessert!! (if it is no longer available, pick your favorite flavor!)
Now head toward the candy aisle to pick up some New Butterfinger® Peanut Butter Cups Minis and Nestle® Crunch® Fun Size Bag 10 oz.
Grab a container of frozen whipped topping, some butterscotch caramel topping, hot fudge topping, and some chocolate sandwich cookies….and any other party supplies that you didn’t already have left over from last year.
Step five, preparation. You’re going to want to clean your party area and set up the day before the party so it’s done and out of the way…..
This also helps avoid any last minute surprises. {I could have sworn that I had a football helmet to use as a candy bowl! } 🙂
Add any hanging decorations like banners or football shaped lanterns to set the scene…..
I found these really cute football cups and decided to highlight the laces with white paint marker…..
While you’re setting up, take your ice cream out of the freezer and set it on the counter to soften for about 30 minutes…..
The second part of preparation, is preparing any foods that need to be made in advance.
How to make Touchdown Sundae Ice Cream Pie:
Start by placing the sandwich cookies in the canister of a food processor and process until fine…..
We are going to make 8 individual servings for our party…..
See Note for instructions to make a 9-inch Touchdown Sundae Ice Cream Pie.
Place 3 Tablespoons of cookie crumbs in each cup, and gently press down to evenly cover the bottom…..
Heat butterscotch caramel topping in the microwave just enough to thin. Add 2 Tablespoons to cup and gently turn to coat…..
Add a large scoop of ice cream…..
Place ice cream cups on a baking sheet and place in the freezer for several hours to harden…..
Just before you are ready to serve dessert, remove from freezer and top with thawed whipped topping…..
Drizzle with heated hot fudge topping…..
and chopped Butterfinger® Peanut Butter Cups Minis…..
and grab a spoon!!
Sixth is last minute details. Set up your drink station so you have a place to make your signature game day cocktails…..
Make sure you have a bottle opener, napkins, drink garnishes, and a trash can on hand so guests wont’ have to ask. Cold drinks should be placed in large buckets of ice to stay cold, this is just for the photo.
Now is a good time to bring the candy out of hiding and set it on the table…..
The New Butterfinger® Peanut Butter Cups Minis are a perfect unwrapped treat…..
Yes, you read that correctly. It’s like Butterfingers and Peanut Butter Cups got together and had adorable little Peanut Butter Cups Minis babies!!
Now it’s time to party! Bake up your pizzas, place them on serving trays and enjoy the game…..
Just remember to save enough room for dessert…..
What are you plans for the big day?
Enjoy!!
