Just hear those sleigh bells jingle-ing Ring ting tingle-ing too…..Ooops, is it too early? LOL I have been cleaning and organizing all week TRYING to get things ready for Thanksgiving, and that has left me with little desire to cook actual food to eat, like today!! So I bring you a Pomegranate Orange Holiday Punch recipe to get you in the holiday spirit…..
So you can forget about food too. Oh wait, that would be bad. How about we all throw together some super quick meals to keep the family fed…and then we can talk about this Pomegranate Orange Holiday Punch…..
This Pomegranate Orange Holiday Punch is a variation of one of my all-time favorite cocktails. It has been called Voodoo Juice, Witches Brew, and Red Blood based on my Halloween costumes. Since we are well past Halloween, I decided to add some fizz with ginger ale and create a holiday cocktail that can be thrown together in minutes!!
Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher, and serve…..
Okay, not really…but close.
How to make Pomegranate Orange Holiday Punch:
Mix the pomegranate juice, orange juice, and vodka together in a large pitcher or punch bowl. {Add agave nectar if using}
Add pomegranate seeds, a sliced orange and a sliced lemon {or lime}. Stir to combine.
Place a few ice cubes in a cocktail glass. Pour the holiday punch over the ice until the glass is about 2/3rds full…..
Top with ginger ale and garnish with orange wedges…..
Serve immediately.
Notes:
- One of the things that I have always loved about this holiday punch, is that it is easy to transport and store. I usually refill an empty orange juice bottle and create some kind of fun label. If there are leftovers, I throw it in the freezer until I need it for a different party. Alcohol does not freeze, so it won’t break the bottle. 😉
- This is why I chose to top off the punch with the ginger ale rather than adding it to the pitcher. If you add the ginger ale in the beginning, all of the fizz will be gone before your last guest arrives! It will also make it impossible to store any leftovers. That’s me, always overthinking things, lol
- The agave nectar is optional and needed if you feel your cocktail is too tart.
- Lime slices would add a touch of green and make it more Christmasy. I was out of limes, so I had to uses lemons…use what you have.
- The pomegranate seeds {arils} are for fun and to make it look more festive. If you do not have any it is not the end of the world. 😉
- Make sure you stir the pitcher before you pour the cocktail into the glasses to make sure it is mixed well.
