Air Fryer Chicken Thighs are a quick and delicious dinner to make any night of the week. They are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and ready in less than 25 minutes!!
This is one of those recipes that doesn’t feel like a recipe!! They could not be any simpler to make, and they are crazy delicious.
Ingredients:
- Six bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs – about two pounds. They skin gets crispy and keeps the inside nice and juicy. Six is the most that will fit in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
- Southwest seasoning – this is my all-purpose, use on everything seasoning! Feel free to substitute your own favorite if you prefer, they will be delicious either way.
How to make chicken thighs in an air fryer:
Place chicken thighs on a large plate and sprinkle seasoning over both sides.
Plug in the air fryer and press the “Air Fry” button. Next, press the “Time” button and set the time for 22 minutes by turning the knob. Then press the “Temperature” button and turn the knob to 380 degrees. Press start to preheat.
When the air fryer beeps, open the basket and place the chicken thighs inside skin-side down. Secure the basket to start cooking.
Set a timer for eleven minutes, mine does not display the alert to “Turn Food” until three minutes until it is finished cooking.
Remove the basket and flip the chicken thighs over. Secure the basket again and cook for the remaining eleven minutes.
Remove the chicken and allow to rest for ten minutes before serving.

Recipe Notes & Tips
- My goal was to create moist and juicy chicken thighs so I have not tried boneless, skinless thighs in the air fryer.
- You may not need all of the seasoning, I cut the original recipe down as low as I could and still have the amounts work out.
- To be safe, use an instant read thermometer to make sure the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees the first few times that you make them.
- If your chicken thighs are smaller than mine, you may want to adjust the cooking time down a bit. Just like regular ovens, air fryers cook differently as well.
Tools used to create this recipe:
- Instant Pot Vortex Air Fryer
- Tongs – rubber tipped so they do not scratch your basket.
- Measuring Spoons – they fit into most spice jars to make measuring easier.
