A few months ago, I received a bag of Key Lime Cookies in the mail. These cookies were amazing, and I was determined to recreate them at home! I started researching how to make Key Lime Cookies, but I cannot buy the key ingredient here in Iowa…key limes!! I figured that others would probably have a hard time finding them as well, so I put them on the back burner.
Then I lucked out, LorAnn Oils offered free samples to the participants of this year’s Online BlogCon!! WooHoo, that is the perfect solution. No more searching for key limes…or key lime juice!
I chose Key Lime, Marshmallow (that I used to make Homemade Ding Dongs), and Buttery Sweet Dough – Bakery Emulsion, then anxiously awaited their arrival. Thankfully, these cookies turned out perfectly on the first try. I love it when that happens! 😉
How to make Key Lime Cookies:
Start by beating the softened butter until light and creamy. Add the powdered sugar, key lime flavor, and buttery sweet dough bakery emulsion, and beat until well combined…..
Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat until thoroughly combined and turns into a soft cookie dough…..
Scoop out with a small cookie scoop, and place on a silpat/parchment lined baking sheet…..
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 15 minutes, until the bottoms are golden brown…..
Very Carefully, roll cookies in a powdered sugar {they are hot} and place on a wire cooling rack to cool. Once cookies have cooled, roll again in powdered sugar to thoroughly cover…..
These Key Lime Cookies have the perfect amount of Key Lime punch, without being overpowering. The LorAnn Key Lime Flavor is perfect for adding the right amount of lime flavor, without tasting fake or obnoxious. No “Lemon Pledge” tasting cookies here! 😉

Lisa these look divine, so cute too, pinning 🙂
Thank you Emily! 🙂
These look amazing, Lisa! 🙂 And yes- key limes are a very difficult thing to find year round sometimes unless you live in the South. Thank goodness for this LorAnn Key Lime Oil! Pinned.
I would settle for being able to find them during the summer! Oh well, these were perfect with the key lime oil so I can’t complain. 🙂
They look amazing! I would totally want to get some of these in the mail! 🙂
Thank you Nancy! 🙂
I’m a huge fan of key lime, but I’m the only one in my family who goes gaga for it! Gotta try this recipe, Lisa!
That just means that there’s more for you Jamie!! 😉
Wow, what I wouldn’t give for a couple of those cookies right now.
Thanks Krissy! I would gladly give them to you, but I kind of ate them all this past week. 😉
Key lime is one of my favorite things ever, and I love the sound of that key lime flavor! They’re not always in season, so that would be great to have around!
Lisa, yum – I just actually bought a few emulsions and now I can’t wait to try them!
I’m a huge key lime fan as well, but all those tiny limes are a pain to juice! That’s why I love using our Natural Key Lime flavor instead! Great idea to add some of the Buttery Sweet Dough Emulsion to the batter – that would balance out the lime flavor nicely.
There is an oldie, but goodie recipe on our website for Key Lime Cooler Cookies that calls for dusting the finished cookies in a mixture of powdered sugar and citric acid powder (3/4 cup powdered sugar + 1/8 tsp. citric acid). It adds a nice tartness to the cookies. That might be really good on these as well!
Thanks Lisa – stunning pictures too!
Yumm! I LOVE key lime and these cookies look amazing!
