Well I did it again! A few weeks ago I got bored and started watching Food Network where I found the inspiration for these Meat Lovers Pizza Rolls. As usual, Guy Fieri was driving all over the place on Diver, Drive-In’s, and Dives…and I couldn’t stop watching. The first episode was filmed in Italy, so I had to watch. The second episode was about pizza in the US, and I was frantically taking notes like I always do!
The third episode took Guy to this awesome little place in downtown Los Angeles that was stared by an actor {can’t remember his name} and his buddies from New York. They were making all kinds of bizarre food, but the Meat Lovers Pizza Rolls were my favorite!!! I knew that I had to make them, even though they are deep fried. 😉
They sounded just like my favorite calzones, but were made with egg roll wrappers instead of pizza dough. Yes, my favorite calzones are deep fried, but that is a whole different post. 🙂
Delicious Italian seasoned ground beef, pepperoni, mozzarella, provolone, and parmesan cheeses deep-fried to perfection in egg roll wrappers and served with pizza sauce. What is not to love about that?
Don’t run away in fear of hot oil, these babies are delicious and really simple to make!
How to make Meat Lovers Pizza Rolls:
Start by heating peanut oil in a large Dutch oven or heavy pot to 350 degrees.
Lay an egg roll wrapper on your work surface and place about 1 Tablespoon of seasoned beef in the center…..
Next place your cheese slices and pepperoni on top of the beef mixture…..
I only had mozzarella but you can use half mozzarella and half provolone to make it like the one’s on the show. 😉 Sprinkle with parmesan cheese, then rub the edges of the egg roll wrapper with the beaten egg…..
Grab one corner and roll it towards the center around the filling…..
Fold over the left and right corners towards the center…..
Try to keep the wrapper tight around the filling, we don’t want any air bubbles. Now roll up toward the top and press to seal the edges…..
Continue rolling all of your pizza rolls and set aside until the oil is heated.
Carefully add few pizza rolls to the hot oil, turning several times so they cook evenly…..
Cook until golden brown, and drain on a wire cooling rack…..
Serve with Homemade Pizza Sauce…..
and drift off into deliciousness heaven!! That’s a real place, right? 😉

Hi, I watch way too much food network and love Guy. I’m so glad he gave you the inspiration to make these pizza rolls. I’m way more of a savoury gal and I don’t want to think how many of these I could polish off!!! Thanks for a fab recipe. Sammie
Thank you Sammie. I did a pretty good job on these myself, they are dangerously good, LOL
Hubs and I are drooling over here – they look so good! We love watching DD&D and pretty much always want to make at least one thing per show!! Pinned!
That is a dangerous show to watch for sure!! Way too many good ideas and delicious foods to drool over. 😉
I have to admit I am too lazy to deep fry. Can I just come to your deliciousness heaven and eat the ones you made? They just look INCREDIBLE…
You are always welcome Seana!! Thank you so much. 🙂

This is every kind of amazing! Thanks for linking up with What’s Cookin’ Wednesday!
I love DDD – and Guy Fieri – DDD is one of my favorite shows on TV! 🙂 My kiddos love making homemade pizza rolls, but we don’t make them often because they are fried. I have tried baking them, but they just don’t taste the same! haha! I know they would totally dig this meat lovers’ version!
I wonder if they would do well baked? Has anyone tried that. I really don’t fry much.
Making these this weekend! I may have missed this, but is the ground beef already cooked before deep frying?
Can’t wait to try them! 🙂
