No party would be complete without Spinach Dip, right? The traditional Spinach Dip made with the soup mix that comes in the green and yellow box. Well I have a serious issue with that soup mix, the second ingredient is mono-sodium glutamate {MSG}! I will become violently ill if I consume that stuff, so I needed to get creative with my version.

I went to the soup aisle to see the ingredient list, and then walked around trying to figure out a way to get the flavors that I needed. I considered pureeing vegetables, but then I came across this jar of Mrs. Dash Original Seasoning Blend in the spice aisle.
It has a lot of the same dried vegetables as the soup mix, but it’s all-natural and has no MSG or chemical additives. I figured that it was worth a shot. 😉
How to make Spinach Dip:
Start by combining the mayonnaise, Greek yogurt {or sour cream} and 2 Tablespoons of the seasoning blend…..
Tip: when you defrost your frozen spinach, put it in a zipper top bag so it doesn’t leak all over your refrigerator…..
Once the spinach is defrosted, scoop out handfuls and squeeze out as much moisture as you possibly can. You want the spinach as dry as possible, or your dip will be thin and watery. Add the spinach to the dip mixture along with the chopped water chestnuts and green onions…..
Cover and chill for several hours before serving. Serve in a bread bowl with bread chunks and/or vegetables…..
The result? It was perfect!! It tastes just like the original. In fact, when I asked what people thought about it, they thought it was the regular dip that they usually eat at parties. They didn’t notice any difference…SCORE!
