Why I created this recipe:

Welcome to this month's Cooking with Astrology "Cancer". It is hard to believe that it has already been a full year since my first Cooking with Astrology post. This year I am going to change things up a bit, and each of the meals will be a picnic.

Cooking with Astrology Cancer Picnic | cookingwithcurls.com | Italian Pasta Salad, Cherry Lemonade, Tropical Cantaloupe Salad, and Turkey on Ciabatta with Sun-dried Tomato Aioli

I started with Cancer last year, but did not start imaginary dates until Leo {John Stamos}. Well my inspiration is the same this year as it was last year. I just never mentioned that Richie Sambora was the one that inspired the meal.

Richie Sambora

For those of you that are scratching your heads right now, Richie is the former lead guitarist for Bon Jovi. 😉  His mother is from Sicily, so I stuck with an Italian theme for today's meal.

We start with a Turkey on Ciabatta with Sun-dried Tomato Aioli, Provolone, and Arugula with a side of Healthy Italian Pasta Salad. and for dessert we had a Tropical Cantaloupe Salad. It's not exactly Italian, but it is perfect for our picnic...and that's all that matters!

How to make Cherry Lemonade:

Just fill each of your glasses with ice {as much as you like}.

Add .33 cup to 0.5 cup of Cherry Simple Syrup and 1 cup of lemonade. Stir to combine.

Everyone has different tastes, so that is why I gave such a wide range in measurements with the cherry simple syrup. The sweetness level of your lemonade will also make a difference. Start with less and add as much as you would like. Garnish with cherries and lemon slices and serve.

I knew who Richie Sambora is ... do I get a point?! 😀 I love your astrology posts, Lisa! They're always so fun!! I'm a Cancer and I just have to say I am digging this meal! I am a big fan of flavored lemonade, but have never tried cherry lemonade - but now I will have to give it a go! And I totally don't blame you for buying the premade stuff!! I can't believe your lemons are so expensive!! Yowza!

Richie Sambora -- great choice! Bon Jovi was my favorite band for the longest time from the beginning. Love 'em! I'd buy the lemonade too since lemons are at that price. Newman's Own is great stuff, and adding cherry simple syrup can only make it better! 🙂

I just spent most of my week picking my mom's cherry tree and pitting them. Granted they're tart cherries, but I think I can make it work still. That's too bad your lemons are so expensive. I just picked some up for 69cents here. 🙁
