Am I the only person on the planet that thinks of mimosas as a Mother’s Day cocktail? I have no idea where that idea came from, especially since we used to drink green mimosas in college on St. Patrick’s Day, but here we are a week before Mother’s Day and I have made a wonderful Blood Orange Mimosa to share with you…..
I am taking a photography class, my first since high school, and I was so excited to catch the bubbles!! It kind of overflowed all over the tray, but I got the bubbles!! LOL Aren’t those Blood Orange Mimosas a beautiful color? The oranges remind me of the color of my favorite roses. 🙂
How to make an individual Blood Orange Mimosa:
Pour 1/2 an ounce of orange liqueur into a champagne flute…..
Fill the glass half way with blood orange juice…..
Top off with champagne/prosecco…..
Garnish with blood orange slices or wedges and serve immediately.
How to make a Blood Orange Mimosa Pitcher Cocktail:
Pour orange juice and orange liqueur into a pitcher.
Add the Champagne or Prosecco.
Drop in orange slices to garnish.
Serve immediately.
Notes:
- Champagne flutes come in many different sizes, therefore the amount of servings will vary depending on your glasses.
- If you cannot find blood oranges, substitute navel or your favorite type of orange.
- The orange liqueur is added to give the cocktail an extra kick of orange flavor. You can leave it out if you like, or try a different liqueur instead.
- I am not a fan of champagne so I always use prosecco {Italian sparkling wine}.
