A medium-rare steak cut open and topped with herb butter on a white plate.

This air fryer steak recipe creates tender and juicy steaks every time! They are quick and easy to prepare for the perfect steakhouse meal. Top with compound butter for a truly decadent date night meal!

Air Fryer Steak and Asparagus topped with garlic butter on a white plate.

I paired these delicious steaks with Air Fryer Asparagus and it was the easiest meal I have made in ages!!

    What you will need:

    • I used filet mignon, but any .75 to 1-inch steak will work. Adjust your time based on the thickness of you steaks; less time for thin, more time for really thick steaks. Depending on size of your air fryer basket, you can cook two to four steaks at one time. Do not overcrowd the basket, the air needs to flow freely.
    • olive oil
    • garlic pepper and sea salt seasoning, or steak seasoning of your choice. Montreal steak seasoning is another favorite.
Two steaks on a white plate, a bowl of oil and a bowl of seasoning mix.

    How to air fry steak

Remove steaks from the refrigerator and place on the counter for 30 minutes.

Spray or brush oil on both sides of the steaks, then sprinkle with seasoning mix.

Two steaks coated in oil and steak seasoning on a white plate.

Turn on your air fryer. Set the temperature to 360 degrees and the time for 8 to 10 minutes. I cooked my steaks for 9 minutes/ medium-rare.

Allow air fryer to preheat. When it beeps add your steaks to the basket. Mine actually displays "add food".

Two seasoned steaks in an air fryer basket.

Close the basket and allow food to cook. The air fryer will beep halfway through and tell you to "turn food".

Turn food on the air fryer display.

Flip steaks over and continue cooking until it beeps. Open the basket and remove your steaks.

Place steaks on a plate, cover with foil and allow to rest for 5 to 10 minutes. This is the perfect time to cook the asparagus...hint, hint.

Serve with your favorite sides, a glass of Pinot Noir, and a good steak knife.

Perfection!! I cannot wait to make delicious food all summer long without turning on the oven or going outside to grill when it is 120 degrees. Air Fryers are magic!

    Recipe Notes & Tips

    • I chose the Instant Vortex Plus because I know the Instant Pot brand, I have 3 of their pressure cookers! I also love the fact that the timer does not reset to the original time when you open the basket to turn the food over, and it has a large, square basket...big plus!!
