Have you made your Homemade Guacamole yet? Well it’s time to start using it! I already told you that I prefer my guacamole on top of sandwiches over eating it straight with chips, and my favorite food group is burgers…..So it only stands to reason that these California Burgers would be one of my absolute favorite burgers!!
Why did I call them California Burgers? I’m not exactly sure. Almost every dish that contains avocado, get’s named “California” whatever it is. If you have never lived in California, you may not know that guacamole and salsa are standard condiments right along side ketchup and mayonnaise! We put it on everything. 🙂 Turkey sandwiches, burgers, grilled cheese, and of course Mexican food.
Cinco de Mayo is coming up, and this year I am working on getting all of my basics together and posted. This blog is actually a family cookbook for my kids, so they need the basic recipes all in one place if they want to recreate the meals that they have grown up eating. 🙂
How to make California Burgers:
Form and season the burger patties, and cook in a large skillet or frying pan until no longer pink…..
Cover cooked patties with sharp white cheddar or Monterrey Jack cheese {I like shredded}…..
Remove from heat, and cover pan with a lid to melt the cheese…..
Toast the Hamburger buns…..
Top with the cheeseburger…..
and bacon slices…..
and Guacamole…..
Bam…..dinner in less than 30 minutes!! Serve with a salad, Southwest Sweet Potato Fries, or tortilla chips.

I love a California burger, although I usually make them with ground turkey and skip the bacon. Guacamole is so terrific.. it is working its way East I’m happy to report. I’m seeing it more and more, which is good news for us!
Thank you Seana, it is great that guacamole is making it’s way East! Yes, I really should eat more turkey…beef and bacon are my downfall!! 😉
Looks wonderful! I LOVE Guacamole, too……I’ve never made it tho…..will be searching your recipe….we tease Stella and tell her we almost named her ‘Guacamole’! She doesn’t think that’s funny…haha
Thank you Renee, it is really simple to make. Apple, Coco, Guacamole would have worked. 😉
This burger definitely represents CA! I’d love to sink my teeth into this for lunch, and I can’t wait to see those sweet potato fries later this week. My favorite burger is a turkey burger, and it would be great just like this!
Thanks for linking up to MM tonight! Great burger and soon I’m going to make my first batch of guac! Pinned.
I cannot believe that you have never made guacamole before, you are such a foodie. 😉
This looks amazing, Lisa, and I love avocado slices or guac on burgers. Grass-fed beef makes the best burgers, and we even had that same bacon last week. Pinning so that I remember to make this next time I we have bacon! 🙂
