OREO Cookie Balls decorated in red and blue, and green and blue team colors.

Things are heating up in the world of football, all leading up to the "Big Game". I have no personal preference when it comes to football teams, so I needed to get creative with my color choices for these OREO Cookie Balls "Footballs".....

My kitchen and blog colors are green and blue, so that was a no brainer. 😉 The second half are decorated in a patriotic, red, white and blue color scheme. Any color combination can be achieved, just pick your favorite team colors!

They are also the easiest game day dessert to make!

How to make OREO Cookie Footballs

In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese until creamy.....

OREO Cookie Balls cream cheese cookingwithcurls.com

Non-dairy cream cheese is stiffer than regular cream cheese, that's why we need to beat it to get it smooth. 😉

Crush 36 OREO® cookies {I used mint flavored by the way}.....

Mix cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.....

I used a small cookie scoop to make 36 cookie balls {the official recipe is 48 (1-inch) balls}, that I shaped into footballs using my hands.....

Place on a parchment {or waxed paper} lined baking sheet and freeze for 10 minutes.

    To decorate your footballs

Melt white chocolate in separate bowls based on how many colors you are using. I used 5 oz. for blue, 4 oz. for green, 4 oz. for red, and 3 oz. for white {to decorate}.

Add your food coloring and mix together.

If chocolate is too thick, add 1 to 2 Tablespoons of shortening to thin.

Using a fork, dip each cookie ball into melted chocolate....

My favorite design is the half and half. I dipped half of the cookie ball into the blue colored chocolate, then allowed it to set before dipping the other half into the green or red colored chocolate.....

Once the colors are set, melt the white chocolate and pour into a plastic bag with a #1 writing tip.....

Decorate the top of each football with white chocolate stripes to resemble the laces on a football. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm.....and then eat!!

    OREO Cookie Balls - delicious game day treat | cookingwithcurls.com #OREOCookieBalls #ad #football

Yummy deliciousness!! I made my OREO Cookie Foot Balls during a blizzard, so I was trying to get the photos before the sunlight was completely gone...for days! I would normally go back and "trim" the edges of the footballs with a small, sharp knife. 😉

Thank you Cathy! I'm kind of surprised that no one called me out for not having "Packers" colors, since I live in Iowa. 😉

You are too funny with the green! I was surprised when I used the birthday cake edition of the oreos, that the colors stayed. (And I wanted them to disappear! Thank goodness for editing software.)
You are a pro with these cake balls!

These football-shaped OREO Cookie Balls are fantastic! I love how clean they look, even though you swear they would have been better had it not been for that pesky blizzard. 🙂 You did a great job. 🙂 #client
