Ingredients needed

Blood orange margaritas ingredients.
  • Tequila – silver or reposado is the best tequila for margaritas, but any kind of tequila will work. Just choose one that is high-quality.
  • Freshly squeezed blood oranges – buy a 5-pound bag if you can so you have plenty of juice for drinks and leftovers to garnish.
  • Freshly squeezed lime juice – Lime juice is also important in this drink. You really do need to squeeze fresh limes for the best tasting cocktail. Do not use the little green plastic lime juice from the grocery store! They are filled with preservatives and will make your drink taste bitter!
  • Orange Liqueur – my favorite is Cointreau, but you can also use triple sec or Grand Marnier.
  • A mixture of Himalayan pink salt and sugar for the rim gives this drink the perfect sweet and salty finish.
  • A sweetener is optional depending on your preferences. Add a bit of simple syrup or agave nectar if desired.
  • Ice cubes to chill and to serve your drink.
  • A cocktail shaker to mix your cocktail.
