So I am looking out my windows at the gorgeous day, and it still makes me happy. These Watermelon Margaritas, make me even happier! The original recipe comes from Sheryl Crow’s Cookbook “if it makes you healthy”. The recipe is too large to make in one batch, so you have to break it down and make smaller batches.

Two Frozen Watermelon Margaritas garnished with a sugar rimmed glass, lime slices and green and white striped straws.

Well then your alcohol concentrations will be out of whack, so I have split the recipe for you and added pretty pictures…..you’re welcome!

Ingredients needed to make this recipe

  • seedless watermelon
  • high-quality clear tequila
  • granulated sugar
  • fresh lime juice
  • Cointreau
  • ice

How to make Frozen Watermelon Margaritas

Cut open, slice, peel, and dice your watermelon. Place watermelon chunks in a large plastic zipper bag.

Freeze watermelon for a minimum of 3 hours. Place unused frozen watermelon back in the freezer for next time.

Place frozen watermelon, tequila, sugar, lime juice, and Cointreau in a blender. Add ice cubes, and start with the lowest setting, mine is STIR.

Continue blending until you make it to PUREE/LIQUEFY and mixture is smooth.

Rub the rim of the margarita glasses with the remnants of your squeezed lime.

Dip glass into a bowl of sugar to coat the edge.

Pour margarita into glasses, add a straw and lime wedge, and serve.

Recipe Notes

  • CABO WABO® is Sammy Hagar’s brand of tequila, yes the former lead singer of Van Halen. I was curious to see if it was worth the hype, and it tastes great in these margaritas!
  • Freezing the watermelon will slow down your drink making, but the results are worth it in the end!

  • 1 Tablespoon Cointreau or triple sec

Instructions

  • Cut open, slice, peel, and dice your watermelon. Place watermelon chunks in a large plastic zipper bag.

I made a lot of daiquiris over the summer, but really, margaritas sound way better! So frozen and perfect. Some days I have the same feeling of needing to be enjoying the wonderful day outside, but then I stay doing blog things in my computer!
