I was going to title this post “Big Hero 6 Movie Night with Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Baymax White Chocolate Popcorn with Candy Coated Chocolate” but Google felt that that title was way too long! I will warn you, this Movie Night with lots of Popcorn Flavors post…..

BIG HERO 6 Movie Night and Popcorn | cookingwithcurls.com #BigHero6Release #Ad

is going to be pretty long… because it is stuffed full of delicious popcorn yumminess!! I have included the recipe for all three popcorn flavors below, so stay tuned. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Johnson Family loves Movie Night! We actually bought a massive sectional sofa specifically for movie night viewing comfort! And no movie night would be complete without popcorn, am I right? Why not surprise the kids with popcorn flavors inspired by their favorite characters?

Honey Lemon Baymax and Wasabi Popcorn | cookingwithcurls.com #BigHero6Release #Ad

The story behind these characters is so adorable. Who wouldn’t want to live in the futuristic city San Fransokyo? Microbots and an inflatable robot? I’m in!!

By the way, BIG HERO 6 just won Best Animated Movie at the Oscars’s last night, so now you have to see it!!

How to make multiple popcorn flavors:

Are you ready to make some popcorn? Each these popcorn recipes starts with 12 cups of popped, popcorn with the uncooked kernels removed…..

Large Bowl of Popcorn cookingwithcurls.com

For the Wasabi Popcorn: sprinkle half of the wasabi mixture over the popcorn. Toss, then drizzle with oil, sprinkle with the remaining wasabi mixture, and toss to thoroughly combine…..

It obviously has a kick to it, but the garlic and salt tone it down…just a bit. ๐Ÿ˜‰ย This is what the Wasabi Powder looks like in case you are wondering…..

You can find it in the Asian section of your local grocery store.

To make the Honey Lemon Popcorn: Place the butter, sugar, and honey in a medium saucepan…..

and bring to a boil…..

Stir to combine, then allow to simmer for 5 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat, and add the baking soda and lemon extract…..

Honey Lemon Popcorn soda cookingwithcurls.com

It poofs up and thickens like crazy!! Stir to combine and pour over the popcorn…..

Honey Lemon Popcorn toss cookingwithcurls.com

Toss to completely coat the popcorn, well as much as possible without breaking it, and spread out on a parchment paper or silpat lined baking sheet…..

Honey Lemon Popcorn spread cookingwithcurls.com

Place in a preheated 200 degree oven and bake for 1 hour, carefully stirring every 15 minutes…..

Be careful, it is a really sticky, and HOT! Remove from oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes, then break apart and serve…..

The flavor of the honey really dominates, so pick a good quality honey. The lemon flavor is pretty mild for anyone that doesn’t like lemon. Yeah right, who doesn’t love lemon? ๐Ÿ˜‰

To make the Baymax White Chocolate Popcorn with Candied Chocolate “eyes”: Place white chocolate melts in a small bowl…..

White Chocolate Popcorn chocolate cookingwithcurls.com

I found these Marshmallow Melts in a center aisle display next to the party supply aisle at Walmart, and they are delicious!! Feel free to use vanilla, or any white chocolate that you have on hand.

Melt the chocolate in the microwave on HIGH for 1 minute. Stir, and heat for an additional 15 seconds {if needed} and stir until all of the chocolate is melted…..

and toss to completely coat the popcorn…..

Spread popcorn on a parchment paper or silpat lined baking sheet…..

Then drop your candy coated chocolate candies on top…..

I did not mix them in because they are supposed to be “eyes”, and I didn’t want them covered in white chocolate. ๐Ÿ˜‰ No, not all of them stuck to the popcorn, so you might want to pat them down and make sure they have something to stick to. Allow to cool, about 10 minutes, and serve…..

I wasn’t sure what I was going to use for the “eyes”, then I came across these black candies in the baking aisle and knew that they would be perfect…..

White Chocolate Popcorn black cookingwithcurls.com

They did not have a package of all black, so I bought two packages and saved the other colors for some other recipe in the future. Any dark colored chocolate candies will work.

I wonder if Alex or Cassi would like a BIG HERO 6 birthday party this year? That would be so much fun!!

Did you see BIG HERO 6 in the theater? Who was your favorite character? And yes, that “DVD” is cardstock as well. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Enjoy!!
